WE ARE LIMES
LIMES is the women* student committee of AMIV, the association for students studying Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (D-ITET) and Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT). It was founded by four students in January of 2012 and emerged as the first women* network in engineering at ETH Zurich.
At LIMES, we are committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equality in all aspects of our work. We believe that by working together, we can create a better future for everyone in the engineering community.
*Our use of the term “women” includes all individuals who identify as women, non-binary, inter- and transgender and face gender-based discrimination.
OUR GOALS
LIMES aims to empower women* in the engineering fields. Our primary focus is to connect FLINTA* engineering students with one another and with industry professionals. We believe that through these conn ections, our members can gain valuable insights into the industry, develop important skills, and build a strong support network.
In addition to our networking efforts, LIMES also seeks to inspire and motivate high school students to pursue technical career paths. We believe that by introducing young women* to the possibilities of engineering and providing them with positive role models, we can help to break down the barriers that have historically prevented women from entering the field.
WHAT WE DO
We accomplish our goals by organizing various exciting events throughout the semester, as well as engaging in projects that address important issues affecting our community.
Our events range from company excursions to women* evenings to spaghetti dinners, and are designed to provide women* studying engineering with opportunities to connect, network, and learn from one another. These events are a great way to build relationships and gain valuable insights into the engineering industry. Find out more about our upcoming and recurring events here. Most of our events require registration, which can be done through the AMIV website
In addition to our events, we also engage in projects that address important issues affecting our community. Recently, some of our members were instrumental in the establishment of the Menstruation station, a project intended to help normalize and eliminate the stigma surrounding the subject of menstruation. This project is just one example of how LIMES is working to create a more inclusive and supportive community for women* in engineering.
OUR MEMBERS
LIMES members are an integral part of our organization, and play a critical role in helping us achieve our mission of empowering women* in the engineering fields. Our members are passionate, engaged, and committed to making a difference.
One of the key responsibilities of LIMES members is helping to organize various events and excursions throughout the semester. In addition to planning events, LIMES members also take part in our bi-weekly meetings. Members are welcome to propose new ideas and projects, or to plan and organize new events.
People who have attended a couple of meetings are usually considered members. We welcome everyone who wants to help support us, no matter how much or little time they have. At LIMES, we believe that every member has something valuable to contribute, and we encourage everyone to get involved and make a difference. By working together, we can create a stronger, more vibrant community that is dedicated to empowering women* in engineering.
JOIN OUR MEETINGS
LIMES meetings are an important part of our organization, and are held bi-weekly during the semester. During our meetings, we discuss a wide range of topics, including planning events, giving updates on ongoing projects, delegating tasks, and discussing other important issues affecting our community. Members are encouraged to actively participate in these discussions, as everyone’s input is valuable and helps to shape the direction of our organization.
If you are interested in learning more about what we do, we invite you to join us for one of our meetings. These meetings provide a great opportunity to get involved, meet new people, and make a difference in the engineering community.

BECOME A MEMBER
Becoming a member of LIMES is easy! If you are interested in joining our club, simply attend our next meeting to learn more. At the end of the meeting, we will ask if you would like to stay involved. There is, of course, no obligation to become a member if you attend one of our meetings.
